Harper Farm is a place where compassionate animal care, thoughtful stewardship, and everyday farm life come together to create opportunities for learning, healing, and connection.
Explore the FarmOur Vision
Harper Farm extends the mission of Lumps Good Works into the natural world. Here, compassionate animal care, healthy land, and meaningful community experiences all support one another.
Every pasture, garden, animal, and future educational opportunity is part of one growing ecosystem designed to inspire stewardship, curiosity, and connection with nature.
Everyday Farm Life
Life at Harper Farm is a rich tapestry of sights and sounds: bottle-feeding curious baby goats, watching playful Kunekune piglets explore their surroundings, sheep grazing peacefully on rolling pastures, chickens scratching energetically through the pasture, gardens bursting with blooms and vegetables, and tranquil evenings settling over the farm’s fields. Each day offers moments of discovery, care, and quiet joy.
Our goats are curious, intelligent, and full of personality. Whether climbing, exploring, or relaxing after a busy day, they bring joy to everyone who visits the farm.
Our Kunekune pigs are an important part of the Harper Farm ecosystem. Gentle, social, and endlessly entertaining, they spend their days rooting, grazing, resting, and exploring — with the occasional enthusiastic interest in Melissa’s toes.
Harper Farm’s sheep bring a quieter rhythm to daily life. Gentle and peaceful, they graze, gather at feeding time, and contribute their own character to the mix of animals that make the farm feel alive.
Harper Farm’s chickens are always on the move — scratching, pecking, foraging, and exploring together. Their busy daily routine brings energy to the farm while helping turn and work natural materials back into the land.
The Farm Ecosystem
Harper Farm is being shaped as a practical, resourceful system where animals, land, and everyday farm materials work together. Feeding time brings its own shared daily rhythm, while each species contributes differently to the larger cycle — helping turn what might otherwise be waste into something useful for the next part of the farm.
Resourcefulness is central to Melissa Harper’s vision for the farm. Even empty feed bags can be reused to package finished compost for local gardeners, reducing waste while creating an affordable garden product from materials already generated through caring for the animals.
The goal is a farm where one part of the system continually supports another: livestock help create the raw materials, chickens help process them, gardeners can put the finished compost back into productive soil, and useful farm resources stay in circulation longer.
Harper Farm is a place to rediscover the healing power of nature. Through daily farm work, gentle animal care, and mindful stewardship, we foster a sense of responsibility, empathy, and connection. Our hope is to inspire people of all ages to embrace compassionate farming, humane animal care, and sustainable living.

We aim to deepen community partnerships and create volunteer opportunities that invite active participation in the stewardship of the farm.
Our long-term goals include building a model of responsible growth that balances the needs of the land, animals, and people. We envision Harper Farm as a thriving hub where learning, healing, and sustainability continue to flourish for generations to come.
